Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Companies make special offers to attract new business all the time. But a valley woman said her wireless carrier didn't live up to its side of the bargain. So, she called Contact 13's Call for Action volunteers for help.
"I don't like people making promises they don't keep," said Brenda Byrom.
She's venting about her frustrations with her phone provider. It was last November when the carrier offered a special deal.
"Refer your friend, and if they sign up with us, after 90 days they get a $25 credit. You get a $25 credit," explained Brenda.
She said she convinced not just one, but two different people to sign up.
"My friend Tony was not happy with his service, and our mutual friend Vicky was not happy with her service," said Brenda.
But after 90 days, she said no one got their credit. Brenda said she tried calling customer service, and even visiting the store, but couldn't get any answers.
"A lot of time, a lot of frustration. I was ready to pull my hair out. The 3 of us are all on fixed incomes. You know, that's not a lot of money, but it was a lot to us," said Brenda.
So after several weeks with no answers, she reached out to Contact 13's Call for Action. Our volunteers made a phone call, and Brenda was shocked when she got a call back from her wireless provider, that very same day.
"Before the day was out, we all 3 had our credits. I was hoping for results, but I certainly didn't expect anything that quickly," said Brenda.
Here's the Contact 13 bottom line: When signing up for any special deal or discount, always get the details in writing.
If you're not being treated fairly, just like Brenda, don't back down. Talk to as many people as it takes, until someone with the company is willing to help you.
