Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The holiday season is in full swing, and every year it seems like the list of people we're shopping for just keeps growing. So how do you get the best bang for your buck? As Action News anchor Jessica Janner reports, the answer is right in the palm of your hand.
"I check it daily to see what new coupons, what new deals, what new sales they have," says a shopper.
Shoppers agree, smartphone apps are the best way to keep a little green in your wallet.
"I whip it out of my purse, push a button and everything is right there for me," says a shopper.
Shopping apps make bargain hunting easy, and there are plenty to chose from. There's RedLaser, it searches through online retailers, giving you a chance to find the best deal. And these days, many retailers like; Best Buy, Target and Toys R Us promise to match cheaper prices found online.
"What kind of stores do you have apps for?" asks Jessica. "For retail stores, for grocery stores, I use "retail me not" a lot," says a shopper.
The RetailMeNot app, lets you search for coupons. You can scroll through a list of deals, or search for bargains at a specific store.
"It's much easier. In fact I kind of stopped clipping coupons because it just was a pain in the neck, and then you don't have them when you get there," says a shopper.
A number of major retailers also offer coupons on their own individual apps like; target, macy's, and best buy. And that's not all. Did you know there are apps for many of your favorite shopping centers like Town Square? Their app shows all the special deals available at their shops. It even helps with parking.
"It will make recommendations where to park. It will also give you a product search option. So if you're looking for certain items, it will tell you what stores have those items," says Jaimesen Mapes, Marketing Director at Town Square.
He says he's seen a huge interest in their shopping app, since it launched in December of 2011.
"We average about 600 new subscribers each month on top of the existing thousands of subscribers we already have," says Jaimesen.
Town Square isn't alone. The Fashion Show and the Galleria at Sunset in Henderson also offer shopping apps, where you can find a map, retailer directory, and details on store sales.
"Would you recommend using apps on your phone to other shoppers?" asks Jessica. "I would yes. there's no downside to it... it saves you a lot of money and why wouldn't you want to save money?" says a shopper.
The best part is, in addition to saving you money, all these apps are free to download.
