Las Vegas woman receives suspicious call asking for donations

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Charities are always looking for ways to reach out and ask for a donation. But, if your phone rings, it's important you know exactly who is on the other end.

One Las Vegas Valley woman received a suspicious call earlier this month.

Joanne Matz got a call from someone claiming to collect contributions for cancer research. But before giving her credit card number, she wanted to learn more.

So, Joanne asked a few questions and quickly became suspicious.

Joanne said the caller couldn't give any real clear answers about the organization and their procedures. So, she asked for even more information.

The caller told her they were based in Wisconsin but Joanne's caller ID showed a 702 area code.

When she asked why, Joanne said the caller claimed to be working in a Las Vegas call center.

Joanne said she was just too skeptical and now she is taking the time to warn others.
