Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Finding work can be a full-time job and one Las Vegas man was recently disappointed to learn that an employment opportunity was nothing but a scam.
Mike Bryant has been out of work for about a year and said he has applied for so many positions, he can't keep count.
In February, a posting on Craigslist caught his attention.
The job ad said they were looking for drivers will to have their personal vehicles wrapped in advertising for the Wounded Warriors Project, an organization that offers programs and services to injured veterans.
Mike responded to the ad and was told he was selected to participate in their car decal project which would supposedly pay $400 a week. He was then sent a check for $1,600 and instructed to wire back $1,000 to the business that would put the decal on his car.
But Mike was suspicious. So he took the check to his bank and asked them to verify it was legitimate. He was told it was bogus and he called Contact 13.
Contact 13 reached out to the Wounded Warriors Project and they told us they are aware of the scam and are investigating.
