Black Friday & holiday hiring
More retailers are planning an early start to Black Friday this year.
Macy's is the latest major retailer to announce it will open at least some of its stores on Thanksgiving night. The department store says it will offer special prices on fragrances, clothing and kitchen gadgets.
But Black Friday isn't the only day for bargains. A study last year by ShopAdvisor tracked the prices of more than 200 toys. It found that in the 54 days from November 1st through December 24th, the best deals turned out to be on November 13th.
And we've got news for anyone looking for work this holiday season. Holiday hiring is underway now, but don't wait until November to start looking.
These jobs will go fast, and a temporary slot could lead to a permanent position. According to Career Builder's annual survey, 39 percent of retailers plan to hire additional staff this holiday season. That's up 3 percent from last year, and up 10 percent from 2011.
