Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Some companies offer you monetary incentives, to get you to stay on as a customer. But one valley man says when his phone company wouldn't deliver on a promise, he picked up the phone and called Contact 13's Call for Action.
"AMX gift card for $100... and then the second card was another $100 card for early pay," says Gordon Jensen.
It's all in black and white. A special deal offered to Gordon, for signing a new one year contract with his phone company. But he says it wasn't easy to collect.
"They said it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get your cards," says Gordon.
But after 2 months, he says he didn't get anything. So he called them up. After talking to customer service and then a supervisor, he was told they were going to resend the gift cards. Another 2 months went by with nothing, so he called again.
"You'll have your 2 gift cards in 6 to 8 weeks. This went on and went on. I think it went on the same exact story, 3 to 4 times," says Gordon.
Eventually, he says he got this $100 gift card in the mail. But he was left wondering where the other one was.
"I got upset enough where I was shaking. I thought like, I was going to get an ulcer," says Gordon.
After 10 months of arguing with the company about living up to their side of the deal, he picked up the phone once more... but this time he called Contact 13's Call for Action volunteers. And Gordon says he can't believe the results.
"I'm astonished really," says Gordon.
Our volunteers called the company and that same day, they called Gordon back, giving him this $100 credit on his bill.
"Channel 13 has definitely got connections," says Gordon.
So here's the Contact 13 bottom line. When signing a contract, always get everything in writing, including any offered discount or special deal. Ultimately, that's what helped Gordon.
He also didn't back down. Don't be afraid to talk to as many people as it takes, until someone with the company is willing to help you.
And when all else fails, don't forget we've got your back Las Vegas. Contact our Call for Action volunteers at 368-2255, anytime between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
