Make sure to play it safe during your Memorial Day cookout.
The U.S. Agriculture Department says, when you fire up the grill, make sure you're taking the appropriate steps to prevent foodborne illnesses.
Remember the four basic food safety steps; clean, separate, cook and chill.
Clean all food prep surface areas and wash your hands. Separate raw meats and poultry from vegetables and cooked foods. Cook all food to proper heating temperatures. And chill all perishable food.
