Homeowners deed scam
Don't be scammed into paying for a copy of your property deed.
Consumer Reports warns thieves are sending solicitations under company names like "Record Retrieval Department" and "National Deed Service."
In some cases, they're asking for more than $100 to provide your deed, claiming government agencies advise homeowners have a certified copy.
The truth is, that documentation is available at the Clark County Recorder's office.
If you're solicited, don't respond. Instead, report it to the Nevada Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection at (775) 684-1169.
