Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer is headed back to Las Vegas tonight after dying and coming back to life. This morning we have an update for you on officer David Salgado.
This is the latest picture of Officer David Salgado, posing with his mom on a special day out. He's still in the hospital at St. Joseph's in Phoenix. About a month ago, his step-dad Scott Edwards said, "By the end of the year we hope he can be back in Vegas."
Once again, David is defying the odds. He's expected to be released from the hospital Thursday and will be back in Vegas. A miracle. Because after a cutting edge brain surgery to save his life, David was pronounced brain dead.
His step-dad recalls, "I talked to his oldest brother and we talked and prayed and decided that weekend we were going to make that decision to take him off of life support."
But this father of three began moving, signing "I love you," and is now talking and learning to walk again. All of us at Action News wish David a speedy recovery as he continues his rehabilitation here in Las Vegas.
