Little League team from Nevada hopes to make it to world series

By Joyce Lupiani. CREATED Aug 2, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A Little League baseball team from Las Vegas is competing in the western regionals this weekend in California.

Before they hit the road, Action News had a chance to talk to some of the team members.

Coach Larry Quaney told us that his strategy was to build a team and keep them together for three years.

And it worked. Mountain Ridge Little League's record for the last three years is 29 to 2. Quaney thinks they have a great shot to win the Little League World Series.

So far, they are well on their way. Mountain Ridge beat the Dixie Little League from St. George, Utah, 11 to 1 today.

No Little League team from Nevada has ever advanced to the world series, which is held in Williamsport, Pa.
