Las Vegas man could be crowned "Chief World Explorer"

CREATED Oct. 16, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- In less than a week, we could find out if a Las Vegas man will earn the best job in the world with vacation matchmaker website  But the coolest part about John Beede is that he's showing off our city like never before.

He's the only Las Vegan to ever climb Mount Everest.  But John Beede says as incredible as that was, he's always glad to be back home to Las Vegas. "When I've traveled around the world I think why am I leaving? I've got Red Rock Canyon. It's better than any place in the world. I can go kite-boarding and pursue all the things I love to do so I keep coming back here despite all the other places I've been."
A motivational speaker by profession, John Beede has traveled the world.  But now the world is getting to know John because of this video he produced about Las Vegas.  His video gets your attention when he plunges off the Stratosphere but most of his video showcases the other side of Vegas.   "I wanted to take them off the strip and show them what Vegas has to offer people don't know about -- Lake Mead, Red Rock."
This video is online at, the company sponsoring the contest for Chief World Explorer. More than 3,000 people applied. John made the cut to the final 50. We think he's perfect for the job. He's well spoken, he has traveled the world, the ladies will love him and he represents a side of Vegas the world needs to know.
