Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- On Monday, online retail giant Zappos.com will open its new headquarters inside the old Las Vegas City Hall building, located downtown by Stewart Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.
Roughly 2,000 employees will be moving into the new location within the next two months.
It'll give a huge boost to local shops and restaurants that are bound to see more foot traffic, especially on east Fremont Street.
"It's going to bring a lot more people down here. We're going to make a lot more money," said Toni Carbone with Radio City Pizza.
The move is part of CEO Tony Hsieh's effort to revitalize the area. The company is leasing the property for $18 million.
Bush Gindi, owner and pizza maker at downtown's Uncle Joe's Pizza, is thrilled about the news, "Imagine now 2,000 more employees are coming downtown so it's going to boom the business of downtown."
Until now, Zappos.com was headquartered in Henderson. It moved there in 2004, after re-locating from San Francisco.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman and CEO Hsieh will be speaking at the opening event on Monday afternoon.
