Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A little boy was forced to celebrate his birthday on Sunday without his mother.
Deanna Serano was shot and killed earlier this month during a confrontation at the Geisha House restaurant near the Las Vegas beltway and Flamingo Road.
Her friend Rasheda Lopez was also shot that night but survived.
Police arrested Carim Cruz earlier this week and charged him with Serano's murder. Police said he got into a fight with Serrano's boyfriend Richard Lambey inside the Geisha House. It spilled into the parking lot and Cruz allegedly shot Serano and Lopez.
Serano's four-year-old son is too little right now to understand the pain his family is in unlike his 14-year-old brother Isiah Foster. He said he still talks to his mother and yearns to hear her voice.
Serano was known for her big personality.
