Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A woman has been hospitalized after surviving a pit bull attack in the southeast part of the valley.

It happened around 5 p.m. Monday night near Tropicana Avenue and McLeod Drive.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Tracy Mischel was walking her two small dogs when two pit bulls attacked her. One of the small dogs did not survive the attack, the condition of the other is unknown at this time.

Police said the dogs only stopped biting her when a neighbor began throwing bricks at the attacking dogs.

The woman was transported to Sunrise Hospital after being bit multiple times. She is listed in moderate condition.

The two pit bulls, along with a third one, were located soon after and taken into custody by animal control officers.
