Woman arrested in police kidnap, murder plot denies charges
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The woman arrested for plotting to kidnap and kill Las Vegas police officers says that the charges are ridiculous.
During a jailhouse interview with 63-year-old suspect Devon Newman, the woman said that she was a new grandmother. Not a member of the Sovereign Citizen Movement.
She also told Action News that she does not hate police but does have some serious trust issues with law enforcement.
Newman scoffed at the accusation that she may be a domestic terrorist.
Newman says that she has never harmed anyone nor did she have any intent to harm anyone.
She certainly never conspired to murder a police officer.
When asked if she thinks the police are lyging, she said that she thinks they paint things a certain way.
Most intersting of all, she appeared less concerned with professing her innocence than sending a message.
Newman and 42-year-old David Allan Brutsche was arrested after an investigation of several months. According to police, the couple had a "deep hatred" for police and were plotting to kidnap and kill Las Vegas police officers.
