Woman arrested for arson in Las Vegas motel room fire
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A woman is in custody and has been charged with first degree arson after she allegedly set a motel room on fire on Las Vegas Boulevard.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Tod Motel.
Las Vegas police received a call about a woman who was acting suspiciously and threatening to do harm to the motel manager.
When police arrived, they went to the woman's motel room with the manager. As they approached the room, smoke started to come out around the door.
The manager let police into the room, where they found some belongings on fire with the woman inside. The woman was brought out and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue was called.
The fire was extinguished and confined to contents only. There was no damage to the building.
No injuries were reported.
After an investigation on the scene, 35-year-old Maureen Shoniker was arrested and charged with arson.
