Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Family and friends gathered at Firemans Park Thursday night for a candlelight vigil in honor of 19 year old Amir Elkhechen.
The Bonanza High School football player and recent graduate was killed in a crash Monday night.
Investigators say he was speeding when the motorcycle he was riding hit a car on Durango near Desert Inn.
Angel Mendoza was among the mourners. He said, "Complete shock; like, one of your childhood friends is just gone, like, so unexpected."
Parent Nancy Nakata said "Amir was so well-loved in the community at Bonanza. He was just full of life, huge smile and just a wonderful kid that everybody loved and.. he's gonna be missed."
Those who loved Amir released dozens of balloons and shared memories of Amir during the candlelight vigil.
It's been a tough year for Bonanza High.
Elkechen's death is the latest in a series of tragic losses.
A beloved coach and an alum both died of illness.
Andrew Sasse died in a climbing accident.
Marcos Arenas was killed for his Ipad.
