Video camera catches thief in the act at Las Vegas home

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local family said a thief stole deliveries from their home, and it was all caught on camera.

The incident happened near Pecos Road and Flamingo Road.

The family is hoping to take the video viral, in an effort to catch whoever is responsible.

The surveillance video clearly shows a postal worker pulling up to the valley home. The employee walks one package to the front door, then walks some letters to the mailbox. She gets back into the vehicle and drives off.

A few hours later, the video shows a white van driving past the house, then swinging back around and pulling into the driveway. The woman driving the van gets out and walks to the front door and grabs the delivered package. The family said she had to reach through the bars of a locked gate to snag it.

After she takes the package, the video shows her getting back into the van. She then drives a few feet over to the mailbox, and gets out again. She checks the mailbox, where the family said she stole a $500 check that was just delivered. Video shows the woman getting back into the van and driving away.

"It just made my [blood boil] because I was watching this lady take something that wasn't hers," said family member Debora Monaghan. "You've got people out working hard all day and then they come home and [the package is gone] and she's out taking stuff that people are paying for while they're actually out working."

The family said it looked like the woman who took the items never noticed the eight cameras that were set up on the front of the house. After the incident, they installed eight more cameras, all of which are high definition.

The check that was taken has been canceled. The Bluetooth headset that was in the delivered box has since been replaced. Now, the family is just hoping someone catches the woman who they're calling a criminal.

The family said a report has been filed with the U.S. Postal Service. If you have any information, please call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
