RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A Vagos motorcycle gang member says he thought he was going to be killed by a Hells Angels leader who kicked him in the head and pointed a gun at him before his rival was fatally shot in a 2011 shootout at a Nevada casino.

Robert Wiggens, the vice president of the Vagos chapter in Orange County, Calif., testified in Washoe District Court Tuesday. He didn't know until days later the Hells Angels' San Jose boss, Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew had been killed.

He said he tried to pretend he was dead during the beating and never saw Pettigrew get shot.

His fellow Vagos member, Nicaragua chapter president Ernesto Gonzalez, is being tried for the alleged murder.

Gonzalez says it was self-defense.
