Up to 10 inches of snow possible in Sierra by Wednesday
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A winter storm is making its way toward the Sierra, where 5 to 10 inches of snow is expected in the mountains and rain in the valleys over the next two days.
National weather service meteorologist Marvin Boyd says most of the snow will fall at the higher elevations but it could drop down to level of U.S. Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 50.
The storm is expected to begin as rain in the Sierra Monday night before turning to snow and continuing off and on into Wednesday.
Boyd tells the Reno Gazette-Journal the precipitation could spill over into Reno and other parts of western Nevada by Wednesday.
