United Blood Services urging residents to donate blood immediately

By Rebecca Lewis. CREATED Mar 1, 2014

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- United Blood Services desperately needs your help. It's calling on the Las Vegas community for blood donations.

While many valley residents generously donated blood earlier in the year, the blood center has been experiencing a shortage because donors must wait at least eight weeks before giving blood again.

The demand has outpaced by 400 pints of blood.

United Blood Services has less than a one-day supply of blood types O positive and O negative.

The non-profit is asking members of the community to visit any of its convenient blood collection centers to support its life-saving mission.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 17 year old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height and weight requirements apply to donors ages 22 and younger.
