UNLV welcomes its largest class of freshmen into the dorms

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It's been a busy day on the UNLV campus.

Wednesday marked move-in day for freshmen. They started moving into the residential halls at 8:00 in the morning.

About 1,200 freshmen will move in, making this the largest class of freshmen to live in UNLV's dorms to date. Many of them have been showing up with their parents, including Shae Wiley.

His mom and dad were more emotional than he was as they helped him unpack his things.

"I'll probably remember it longer than he will because to him it's going to be: 'Wednesday I went to college.  Totally good.'  But for me, the baby's off," said Dave Wiley.

UNLV says this year, it will be welcoming its largest freshmen class ever.

"We're going to surpass last  year's admission rates," says Afsha Bawany, spokesperson for UNLV. "So this is a great time of year.  We welcome them."

Returning students will be able to move into the dorms on Friday.

Classes at UNLV start on Monday.
