(KTNV) -- Performers took the stage on Sunday night in Los Angeles for the American Music Awards.
Taylor Swift once again proved her popularity with music fans. She was named the AMA Artist of the Year for a third time.
Taylor took home four trophies in all. The 23-year-old singer also won County Album of the Year for "Red" and Favorite Female Artist in both the country and pop/rock categories.
Justin Timberlake won three AMAs, including Favorite Male Artist in both the pop/rock and soul/R & B categories.
The British boy band One Direction won two awards.
But, the night was really more about performances than awards. Sixteen different artists took the stage.
Lady Gag performed with R. Kelly and Miley Cyrus sang "Wrecking Ball" with an animated cat behind her.
It was also Miley's 21st birthday. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, says her birthday bash lasted for three days.
On on another Miley note, during the weekend celebration, someone broke into her house and stole a bunch of jewelry.
