Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A suspect has been arrested for an alleged crossing guard robbery.

On Wednesday around 8:30 a.m., Las Vegas police responded to the area of Pinedale Avenue and Antelope Way to investigate a report of an auto-pedestrian hit and run.

Arriving officers were flagged down by citizens who had detained the suspect.

A preliminary investigation into the incident revealed the victim was a crossing guard in the area and had observed the suspect attempting to steal his vehicle.

The victim tried to prevent the suspect from taking his car and was pushed to the ground as the suspect escaped.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Veronica Gonzalez, drove through the neighborhood at a high rate of speed and collided with another vehicle.

She attempted to leave the scene on foot and was detained by citizens in the area.

Gonzalez was arrested for robbery and grand larceny auto.
