Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on Sunday.

One person was shot and was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

It happened just before 10 a.m near Nellis and Cheyenne.

Police spotted a vehicle in the area that was believed to be involved in that shooting. When police tried to stop the vehicle, the two suspects inside fled the scene.

Police said the driver lost control near Timberlake and Trout Lake. The officer maneuvered his vehicle and both driver and passenger fled on foot.

Officers said the driver reached into his waistband and pulled a handgun while fleeing. An officer then shot the suspect. He was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The second suspect ran inside a home at 3825 Clear Lake, near Pecos and Gowan. People were home, but were not taken hostage. The suspect eventually surrendered to SWAT officers and was taken into police custody.

There were no other reported injuries.
