Students are now in school across the Las Vegas Valley
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Thousands of Clark County students are in class right now.
The school year officially started for 300,000 kids in the school district Monday morning.
This year's bringing some changes, including the addition of "Zoom schools." Cambeiro Elementary School is one of the 14 Zoom schools in Clark County.
Zoom schools have additional resources for English Language Learner students.
In addition, kindergarten has been expanded to a full day at all of the Zoom school. And, the class size for those full-day programs are limited to 21 students.
Other kindergartens can have up to 35 students.
Clark County School District Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky said the district needed to concentrate on boosting the kids who are learning English as a second language, especially at the kindergarten level.
Kids arriving at Cambeiro Monday morning said they are excited to see their friends again and to start learning.
This is Skorkowsky's first year as superintendent. The school district hired 1,800 new teachers this year because of record enrollment and Cambeiro got lots of those new teachers.
About one-third of the teaching staff at Cambeiro are new hires.
