Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Seeing the doctor, even for something as minor as the common cold, is usually a private matter. But now, group appointments are becoming a trend.
Shared medical appointments or group visits are for diagnosis and support groups. For example, people diagnosed with diabetes.
Instead of seeing a doctor one-on-one to learn to manage the disease, they're part of a discussion group with doctors.
Doctors said shared medical appointments provide an opportunity to teach in a different way.
Some patients who've tried it said they prefer it to be a group appointment, since they get the support from other people dealing with the same problems, while also getting the advice of a doctor.
