Motorcyclist killed in crash near Desert Inn and Swenson

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 26-year-old North Las Vegas man is dead after a motorcycle crash near Desert Inn and Swenson.
Las Vegas police said it happened around noon Saturday, when the male victim lost control of his motorcycle after speeding.
Statements indicate a 2000 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Desert Inn Road approaching the intersection of Swenson Street.
The operator of the motorcycle failed to maintain the travel lanes leaving the roadway to the right. The operator and motorcycle struck a light pole on the south sidewalk of Desert Inn Road west of Swenson Street.
The operator was transported to Sunrise Trauma with critical injuries where he was later pronounced dead by attending medical personnel.
The Clark County Coroner identified the motorcyclist as Timothy Wayne Sharp, Jr.
This is the 72nd fatal injury traffic accident in LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2013.
