Residents head to Mount Charleston during holiday break

Mount Charleston, NV (KTNV) -- With kids out of school for the rest of the week, many families were taking advantage of the holiday and weather and heading to Mount Charleston.

This is the busiest time of the year for the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort. The general manager told Action News that they were expecting about 1.500 skiers and snowboarders to make the trek today.

Typically, the day after Christmas through the New Year's holiday is when the resort sees its biggest crowds.

In an effort to grow the sport in Southern Nevada, the resort is offering free lessons all season.

The general manager is hoping that the lessons and more snow will boost the number of people visiting this season.
