Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- As the baby boomer generation gives way to Generation X, it appears that generation is not following in their parents footsteps.
Americans are having fewer babies these days.
When it comes to child-free cities, Las Vegas is the place to be. That's according to the blog estately.com. It ranks Las Vegas as the 11th best city in America for child-free living.
It's because of all the entertainment and nightlife.
While that makes sense on the surface, census figures show a lot of Las Vegans are having children. About 20-percent of the Valley's population is children.
Nationwide though, the trend is for couples to have fewer kids, or even none at all.
Many said it's because of the economy. The same thing happened during the Great Depression. Couples chose not to have kids or delayed until an actual economic recovery kicked in.
While delaying makes economic sense for couples, it could spell trouble for the overall economy. Today's kids are tomorrow's workers and taxpayers.
