Rainbow Canyon Subdivision residents brace for more rain

By Don Guevara. CREATED Jul 30, 2014

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The worrying continues for residents living in the Rainbow Canyon Subdivision up on Mount Charleston.

The street is now drive-able after Monday's storm washed part of it out. But some are still cleaning the mess the rushing water left behind.

Some homes also had to be condemned because of the storm.

Residents are bracing for the next round of rain expected to come in a few days. They're having a town hall meeting this week to talk about what can be done about the flooding.

The county said it rejected a temporary project that would divert water away from the Rainbow Canyon Subdivision because the Army Corp of Engineers, the agency behind the project, wants the county or taxpayers to be liable if anything goes wrong.
