Public now invited to check out showgirl museum
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Did you know that there is a showgirl museum in Las Vegas? Nope, neither did we. But, apparently there is and now it's open to the public.
The museum is located inside Grant Philipo's Old Vegas mansion. Philipo is a show producer-director-designer and former showboy.
The museum includes wardrobe pieces worn by showgirls, sets and props, film footage, historical documents, photos and much more.
Some of Las Vegas' most famous productions are features inside the museum -- Splash, Enter the Night, Les Folies Bergere, and The First Lady of Magic.
There are also costumes worn by such stars as Raquel Welch, Judy Garland, Ava Gardner, Susan Anton, Debbie Reynolds, and Dean Martin.
In the past, the only way to get inside the museum was if you were lucky enough to score a private tour.
No more. On Aug. 24, the museum announced on its Twitter page that it was opening to the public for a $10 donation.
The reason? Philipo is hoping to a move location. And that takes money. Proceeds will also be used to refurbish additional costumes.
