Police: Man shot by Henderson police opened fire first

Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Henderson police officers shot and killed a man in Henderson Tuesday morning that opened fire on them.
According to the Henderson Police Department, a female police officer was investigating an unrelated traffic incident that happened at about 4 a.m.
At about 8 a.m., a man opened fire on the police officer as she sat in her marked car. She was able to drive a short distance away and called for backup.
The man then fired upon the police officers that responded. The police officers returned fire.
The man was transported to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center where he died.
It is not known why the man shot at the police officers. No officers were injured during the incident.
The Clark County Coroner will release the name of the man after relatives have been notified.
The police officers involved in the shooting will be placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
The shooting took place at College Drive and Boulder Highway. Motorists should avoid the area.
