Family looking for answers in local woman's disappearance

By Spencer Lubitz. CREATED Feb 10, 2014

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A search is underway for clues into the disappearance of a local mother.

Her brother said the responsible, hard-working insurance saleswoman would never abandon her family, which is why he came here from New York to push police to look deeper into her disappearance.

Jan. 19 was the last time anyone heard from Irma Mkrtchyan.

Her family believes the circumstances surrounding the 45-year old's disappearance are suspicious in light of some strange text messages they received from her phone.

"The message said the battery's dying, I left the charger at home, I'll be back on Friday," said Davit Mkrtchyan. "When I read that message, I was shocked because she's an insurance agent and her whole business is depending from the phone."

Las Vegas police confirm they are investigating, but at this point they're not sure if the woman left voluntarily, or against her will.

Mkrtchyan is 5'5" and120 pounds with blonde hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at 702-828-2907 or 702-328-3111.
