Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A woman was killed while crossing Cimarron Road shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.
It happened near Cimarron and Laredo Street, just south of Sahara Avenue.
Las Vegas police said the woman was crossing Cimarron when a car that was heading north hit her. There is no marked crosswalk in that area.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said speed or impairment do not appear to be factors in this collision.
Both north and southbound lanes of Cimarron were closed at Laredo while police investigated.
This was the 94th fatal wreck in Metro's jurisdiction so far this year.
Police said the frequency of these types of accidents is alarming.
"We don't know what to do anymore. We've talked about it until we're blue in the face. Our department is looking at every angle [of this]. I have meetings tomorrow with my captain and we're trying to figure out what we can do, as a bureau, to curb this problem that we're having," said Sgt. Richard Strader.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
