Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Regional Flood Control District has released a report on the heavy flooding that took place in the northwest part of the Valley last month.
The Kyle Canyon Detention Basin saw about 1,300 acres of feet of water.
Thousands of homes would have been destroyed had it not been for the basin.
The flood district has a plan in place that would have water flow underground or in an open channel off the streets, to prevent major flooding in the future.
Officials plan on approving the design next week.
