Clark County, NV (KTNV) -- A new program was launched this week to give everyone a chance to do something that's very simple, but very important.
With the "Thank Nevada Teachers" initiative, people can publicly thank educators who work tirelessly to provide educational growth and development for their students.
The community-based program kicked off on Friday in Henderson, featuring Mayor Andy Hafen, state officials and Farmer's Insurance executives.
The events will honor local Nevada educators who represent the hundreds of thousands of teachers across the country with a deep commitment to youth.
To participate, click here and then explain why you want to thank your teacher.
Once the teacher receives "thanks," they are then eligible to submit a 1,000 word proposal on why they think their school or class deserves to receive a $5,000 grant.
Only ten teachers will win.
The deadline for thanking teachers is Oct. 31.
