Highway patrol looking for bad drivers from seats of big rigs
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Motorists can expect to see more Nevada Highway Patrol troopers on the Valley roadways this week.
Or maybe not.
NHP is doing its Badge on Board enforcement event this week and they will be watching for motorists breaking the law from places you would not normally expect them to be and you may not see.
Troopers will be climbing into the cabs of big rigs and observing from the passenger seat.
When a trooper spots someone doing something illegal, that trooper will radio to other troopers in marked vehicles.
NHP is on the lookout for drivers who are making unsafe lane changes, talking on their cellphones or texting, or following big rigs and other vehicles too closely.
Although the cause of the crash has not yet been revealed, two people were killed Monday night after a collision with a semi-tractor truck.
The Badge on Board enforcement event began Tuesday and will continue through Thursday.
