Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- The 19-year-old man accused of throwing a barrel of fuel on a bonfire before it exploded appeared in court on Wednesday.

A judge has set bail for Michael Boyd Jr. at $37,000.

The bonfire took place in a desert area south of Henderson and resulted in injuries to seven teenagers.

Based on numerous interviews with witnesses following the late-night incident and evidence collected at the scene, investigators believe Boyd threw a 55-gallon drum on top of the fire.

The explosion sent at least five Basic High School graduates and students to the hospital.

Following his arrest, Boyd was booked into the Henderson Detention Center and faces numerous charges including one count of third degree arson and seven counts of mayhem.

Boyd's preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 18.
