Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police have released more details into an argument that led to a fatal shooting.
On Thursday at approximately 8:10 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 1500 block of North Eastern Avenue to investigate reports of a person who had been shot.
Arriving police and medical personnel located a male in the roadway on Owens Avenue suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation revealed the victim was in a verbal altercation with his roommate, who was later identified as Charles Redd Jr. of Las Vegas.
Detectives believe the victim and Redd were walking in the area of Eastern and Owens, where the argument escalated and Redd shot the victim.
Prior to officer's arrival, Redd fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody.
Redd faces charges of murder with a deadly weapon and prohibited person possession of a firearm.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
This was the 40th homicide in Las Vegas so far this year.
