Local tourism spots continue to feel impacts of shutdown
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Local businesses continue to feel the effects of the government shutdown, especially those operating national parks.
The shutdown is impacting local tourism dollars, including at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Many people use Red Rock as their primary place of business to conduct tours and now they're unable to do that.
Red Rock is a popular spot for bike, jeep and walking tours around the infamous loop. However, over the last few days, businesses have had to cancel to tourists.
One of the businesses, Pink Jeep Tours, told Action News they expect to take a $10,000 hit from the shutdown and with the cooler weather, October is usually their busiest time of the year.
Park rangers are having to turn people away throughout the day, much to their disappointment.
