Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Labor Day Weekend is coming up fast and Las Vegas police say they will be out in force looking for anyone who has chosen to drink and drive.
Police say that they will begin setting up DUI checkpoints on Friday.
There will be checkpoints in Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas.
In addition to the checkpoint, officers will be patrolling the valley roadways.
There have been 4,000 drunk driving arrests in Clark County so far this year.
Here are some tips from local law enforcement:
1. Program a cab company's phone number into your cellphone so you will have it handy.
2. Call a sober friend or family member to pick you up and drive you home.
3. Give your keys to a sober friend.
4. Take public transportation.
5. Rent a hotel room.
According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, 35 people died on Nevada's roads last year from alcohol-related crashes. Four of those happened on Labor Day Weekend.
