Grandma's gifts to local kids delayed because of UPS

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Vonegloffstein children had already visited with Santa, telling him what they wanted, when their mom received some bad news.

Grandma Dawn couldn't be in Las Vegas for the holiday but she mad sure to send gifts all the way from Arkansas for her three grandkids. Vonegloffstein says the packages were sent almost two weeks before Christmas but she got an email last week that the packages were stuck in Dallas.

Vonegloffstein says she called UPS but did not get any additional information and was left to hope her kids' presents would arrive and make it under the tree in time for Christmas Eve. They never did.

Vonegloffstein says she has no idea how the packages ended up in Dallas when others made it to their destination.

As for Grandma Dawn, she was planning on Skyping in to see the kids unwrap their presents on Christmas morning, but she still hasn't gotten to see their priceless reactions.

UPS is blaming the delay on an unprecedented surge in online sales this year and bad weather.

The company has released a statement that says the volume of air packages in their system exceeded the capacity of their network immediately preceding Christmas.
