Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Action News has learned a little girl was left without parents after a frightening crime spree left two people dead Monday night in North Las Vegas.

Investigators said the deadly fight between Angela Espinoza, 34, and Scott Brown, 40, began as a custody battle.

The father of the toddler died from gunshot wounds after he drove his car into a home in the 4600 block of Candlas Way, but it all started a few blocks away.

Police said Brown stabbed the mother of his child 13 times through her car window after ramming his car into hers in the 4000 block of Ocean Shores Way. He fled to the home on Candlas while Espinoza lay dying.

The Clark County Coroner said Brown died from multiple gunshot wounds, the result of a scuffle when Brown drove his car into the home. Friends said Brown knew that homeowner, but they don't know why he allegedly took his crime spree to that house.

Brown apparently tried to take his own life during the incident, stabbing himself multiple times with the same knife he allegedly used on Espinoza.

The deaths have left the former couple's neighbors in disbelief.

"We were just shocked, we didn't have any idea why he snapped like that or anything because we never knew him to actually be like that," said Chris Martin.

Neighbors said Espinoza also has another child, who is older.

Police have not said whether any charges will be filed against the homeowner who shot Brown.
