Las Vegas police investigating two deaths at detention facilities
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police are investigating two deaths at local detention facilities over the weekend.
On Saturday, a 61-year old male inmate at the Clark County Detention Center collapsed within his cell. Medical personnel responded, however the inmate was pronounced dead a short time later. The inmate had been in custody at CCDC since April 19.
Then on Sunday, a 57-year old male inmate, being held at the North Valley Complex, was involved in a verbal altercation with other inmates, was handcuffed by corrections officers and escorted out of the unit.
After being escorted out of the cell, the inmate collapsed and medical personnel responded. Treatment was rendered on scene and the inmate was transported to North Vista Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
This inmate was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on March 16 and had been housed at the North Valley Complex since April 17.
The cause and manner of both deaths will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
The investigation into these incidents is currently ongoing by the LVMPD Force Investigation Team.
