Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police were called to a fatal shooting on Thursday evening.

It happened around 5:50 p.m. on the 2600 block of West Sahara near Interstate 15, in the 7-Eleven parking lot.

Police said they found a woman in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was transported to UMC Trauma, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police said it started as an altercation at the gas pumps.

"As far as we know, right now one gunshot was fired during that altercation," said Sgt. Matthew Sanford.

Officers said the man shot from his vehicle, into another vehicle and struck the woman inside. The man then drove away, west on Sahara.

Police are checking the 7-Eleven surveillance cameras for more clues to catch the killer. They're looking for a black Nissan-type, four-door vehicle with Nevada plates. The windows are tinted.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
