Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police were called to a shooting at the Palms Casino Resort on Thursday evening.
It happened around 9:20 p.m. inside of a suite in the Fantasy Tower.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, this all started over an argument inside the famous Hugh Hefner Suite. That's where about 40 people were attending a party.
Police said the victim was shot during a verbal and physical altercation involving three other males. The suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.
The victim was transported to UMC where he later died from his injuries. The Clark County Coroner has identified him as 25-year-old Evan Plunkett of Henderson.
No other injuries were reported.
"Everything's isolated to that room. At no time was there anything locked down on the floor or any part of the casino, or anything like that. It was all isolated to that one room," said Sgt. Matthew Sanford.
Family and friends of Plunkett said he was a former marine and now aspiring rapper. He was at the Palms shooting a music video when he was shot, according to a family friend.
Plunkett leaves behind his mother and two brothers, plus a little girl he helped care for.
His family hopes he can eventually be buried in a veterans cemetery.
The Palms released this statement on the incident:
"Palms Casino Resort is fully cooperating with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on this matter. We are saddened by this unfortunate, isolated incident and our thoughts are with the victim's friends and family. The safety and security of our guests and team members are always our number one priority."
