Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The name that conjures up a lot of Rebel Pride and respect took on a new form on Wednesday.
A statue of Jerry Tarkanian was unveiled during a special ceremony at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Dozens of fans showed up to see the statue.
The ceremony was for the Jerry Tarkanian Project, which highlights the career of the Hall of Fame basketball coach.
Posting a 509-105 record at UNLV, Tarkanian took four teams to the NCAA Final Four, winning the national championship in 1990 in a 103-73 runaway over Duke.
Tarkanian coached the Runnin' Rebels for 19 years from 1973 to 1992.
