In the comics, Ultron -- a sentient being -- attempts to destroy his creator, Dr. Henry Pym, the original Ant-Man. However, it is unclear how closely the film will stick to the original plot and whether or not Ant-Man will be a part of the movie.
Spader will have the pleasure of being the Marvel franchise's titular villain, as the film will be called "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Joss Whedon, who wrote and directed "The Avengers," returns for the second installment, as do Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will be released on May 1, 2015.
