(KTNV) -- Inventor and entrepreneur Elon Musk released his plans for the Hyperloop on Monday.
The Hyperloop is a high-speed transit system that he hopes will link Los Angeles and San Francisco.
It is described as "a cross between a Concord, a rail gun and an air hockey table" and would transport passengers at speeds up to 800 miles per hour.
The Hyperloop is a large pneumatic tube and travel would be similar to how the Jetson family would move between rooms in their futuristic cartoon house.
Musk says that the Hyperloop would cost between $6 and $7.5 billion, depending on if it was used to ship both cargo and passengers or just passengers.
Other potential cities that could incorporate the Hyperloop according to Musk is San Diego and Las Vegas.
Musk is best known for founding SpaceX and co-founding Tesla Motors and PayPal.
